Rocket Pirates - More of a debacle than a webcomic collective. With the phrase, "Who wants to be a Rocket Pirate?" British print comic artist/sociopath Warren Ellis set off a photocopying and submission frenzy, the depth of which caught him off guard. Months of hype and excuses evolved into a littany of complaints about the submissions, which at last were followed by a quiet announcement that the project was suspended. Someone -- probably Ellis -- has done an efficient job doctoring Wikipedia entries and generally scrubbing evidence of the disaster from the internet, but they couldn't get it all. In recent photos Ellis looks increasingly boozy.
