October 2008: This well-regarded newer collective includes several rising comics, but includes forum spammer Jonathon Dalton, who declares, "Dude, I am a published comic artist" as he disrupts research into how comics artists can make a living from their work. However, it's easy to work around this fellow and find the promising work awaiting discovery.
Gunbaby artist Mack and Gabe White won the recent Zuda competition with their work Gulch. This puts Gunbaby on hold, or into at least slow motion, as they pursue their Gulch contract with DC Comics. Congratulations.

December 2008: These collectives that no one is really into enough to maintain the site, and which have dead and dying comics? I'm going to call them showcase sites, because what they are is primarily an empty display. Any collective that can't update their blog at least monthly -- let alone for five months -- is too lazy to be taken seriously. The last collective I was in, the least active member was more active than anyone here, and podcasts with nine listeners, mostly pals of pals, don't count. Concept good; execution, fair.

Slipshine (located at orgymania dot net)
Founded by Dr. Voluptua/Girly's Josh Lesnick, Slipshine is a porn comic site that includes Anathema, Dragon Fest, Pretty Sexy Bounty Hunter Illyria, Linburger, Moon Over June, Momo Impact, Sister Wulfia Focka, Zamora Theatre, The Wild, Wet and Wooly World of Wendy, Cheezy World, Naked Acktales, The Pill, Chiba Sketchbooks of Peter Penn, The Edge, Hotcake Theater, Shades of Desire and Xxxenophile. Such titles are believed by some authorities to interest those whose onanist habits have eroded their libidos to the point where exaggerated forms are required for arousal, but this is not a question I intend to investigate further.
Founder Lesnick could be found roaming Twitter on a recent night, intoxicated, denouncing other cartoonists in a froth of loathing and contempt. Whether this is pertinent I'm not sure, but there seems to an association between dissolution and the sex industry and pretty much anything else that requires numbing oneself to exploitation.
