Webcomic Collective List |
boy on a stick and slither (Steven L. Cloud)
diesel sweeties (R Stevens)
exploding dog (Sam Brown)
goats (Jonathon Rosenberg)
the creatures in my head (Andrew Bell)
July 2008 Comments: Populated by pros and convention regulars, this group is most often represented by the acerbic R Stevens on their site blog but has enough brains to form, well, 1.5 collectives at least (zombies got some).
October 2008: This one is a hard call. Dumbrella Serving, a separate firm, hosts some people I respect and some people I do not, and unanswered charges that gossip-blog Fleen is a de facto mouthpiece for Dumbrella Comics makes me ill. It's partly personal (Fleen writes reckless attacks and hides instead of issuing corrections), partly physical (the obsequiousness makes me vomit) and partly guilt by association: what are these guys doing with a parasite like Gary Tyrrell? Judging them as people, it's notable how many of them are surly, but not all. Maybe it's not fair to judge a group that got together to pool convention needs, but they are flying a flag. In their defense (but not Fleen's) they may simply be accustomed to a more rough and tumble interaction style, one suitable for conventions, than I find acceptable with my infamously high standards, formed growing up in farm country, milking dairy, hanging out in junkyards and reading comic books in treehouses.
December 2008: Cumulatively one of the grouchiest groups. I'd be grouchy too if I had to grin and bear the crazier claims of the Dumbrella hangers-on. It turns out Dumbrella owns the Fleen blog, but doesn't advertise it, explaining why the Fleen blog is always shilling Dumbrella product.
big pants mouse (Gabe Swarr)
through the port-hole (Sean Szeles)
skadi (Katie Rice and Luke Cormican)
1930 nightmare theater (Ricky Garduno)
earthward-ho! (Fred Osmond)
Comments: Formed in 2008 by a bunch of seasoned animators, the Dumm grew weary of seeing their work end up canned or cancelled and figured at least they could be assured of seeing webcomics posted.
December: Worth a look for some decent webcomics. Kind of embarrassing to have a bunch of animators set up a webcomic collective that's instantly better than most webcomics collectives. Here's to more.
joe funnies (Michelle Billingsley) fodi (Matt Buchwald) strange fiction (Nicole C.) the flying ferret (Doug Curtis) samurai pride (Jack DeLong) cy-boar (Lou Graziani) suspicious minds (Michael Gregory) future pig (Pavel Lujardo) pinch of the glass (Andy Slack) flat life (Lee Swain, Dan Liles) little terrors (Jon Scrivens) good in theory (Nathan Burgess and Noah Edberg) somewhere in sf (Big Fish and Myxo) | Comments (July 2008): The new web site is polished. Comments: (March 2009): I think more Americans would benefit from exploring this group. |
