The Webcomics Collective Directory

This is a directory of webcomics collectives and their current members and webcomics.

Webcomic collectives are member-formed and administered cooperatives. Common goals include economic cooperation, enhancing traffic, marketing plans, social bonds, technology chore sharing and more. Sometimes the tougher collectives meet behind the bowling alley on Saturday night and taunt each other until fights break out, or someone gets ink on their blouse.

One of my biggest problems is identifying a reliable contact person for each collective, though some have been excellent. If you are the media contact for a collective listed here, please say hello, and think of me when you have news and updates. I especially need contacts for Mediocre Militia, Collective Comics, Hyena, Updown, Comicsmix, Eye Trauma, Sugarskull, Trees and Hills, Monster and Robot Industries, Cornstalker and The Nice.

About five of the webcomic collectives listed appear to be in transition or disarray. Where I have confirmed information, I have added a note.

Comments: In August 2008, Amalgamated Artists merged with Flavorwhip, another long-from color collective. The group will use the Amalgamated Artists web site and name.

December 2008: Pug and I resigned from this group a few weeks ago. I would have to say that the effort to integrate veteran artists coming online to do comics with seasoned cartoonists shifting to the web from zines did not succeed. Only Malachi Sharlow remains from Flavorwhip.
